Appreciation night

They say, "Work hard, Play hard." Indeed, we had a memorable day at Pink Your Nails, Colour Their World charity event.

I am really really touched that so many of our graduates and students actually make time for the charity event. To the extend of applying leave from work! #super感动 to see everyone get together for a good cause. The event was a great success thanks to everyone of you!

To show our appreciation, PinkRoom organized a party to reward everyone who had worked hard along with us, including all of our partners and PRINA salon network members ♡♡♡

The theme for the night was " Something Pink"~ I reckoned it was be the prefect theme sinow we are Pinkroom!! LOL~ so all the other themes suggested such as retro night and PJ party was cold storaged.

And yes, everyone kept to the theme. Haha!! I was actually worried they won't cus not many people actually WEAR pink. So every time I see the students in school, I'll nag them to keep to the theme. Look~ the results was spectacular!! I love you all!!!

***group photo***

Glad that our team managed to get food sponsors for the night too~ as it won't feel right to spend on food & celebrations. The money would have gone a longer way to helping the street kids.

We had cupcakes, traditional kueh from D'cake and pizzas from Pezzo Pizza!! Much loves~ and thankful to the sponsors for bringing the food down to PinkRoom. It was a pity they couldn't join us in the celebrations.

We had a nice catch up networking session. Something that we didn't had amy chance to do in the past. Our grads and students have feedback that they enjoyed such sessions, so looks like there will be more to come. I guess it's only during such times that we all put time aside from our busy work schedule and appointments to make time for our friends.

I also shared with our PRINAgals the latest nail trend that is popular in Japan right now! It is always about motivating and inspiring our girls with new and creative ideas so they stay up to date the latest nail trends.

Certificates of appreciation were also prepared and given out to students to show our gratitude and as a souvenir for memory.

I was glad that all of them had fun that night and I guess the pictures tell it all. They really did had a moment with the selfies and party props. It also reminded me that it is as important to bond with my students and enjoy our time together apart from the lessons in class.

Looking forward to more events to come, and wishing everyone a good and fruitful weekend ahead~

#TGIF

I love Fridays! It marks the beginning of my self-proclaimed, much needed, break! ;)

My past few days have been filled and occupied hour-to-hour (*cries a river*). But it is not without fun with my colleagues and my never-ending passion for nail art. Once again, I've seen so many of my students coming in and out for self-study and classes to further improve on their skills, i'm really touched by their determination.

So hence, it is Friday (and the time to look back and reflect) and I do feel like the Will Smith in this picture:

Sharing a little of what Japan's Nail Up! has feature about Singapore and our local beauty industry:

Many girls (and foreigners, mainly Japanese ladies) have approached us for the Nail Up! magazine as it is really hard to get their hands on it. But from now on, it'll be readily available at Shoppink Room (International Plaza #06-18) and if you subscribe to Nail Up! right now, you'll get a free issue (Vol.57).

Cheap deal, good deal ;)

Well, I guess the most memorable event that happened was the exclusive customized nail art class we've hosted for the ladies from Bobbi's Pole Studio! They are a group of bubbly and fun ladies who finished their session with a changed perception about nail art!

-Hehes-

Isabella (right) thought that nail painting was easy and she was so cute throughout the class, talking about giving up on her nails. I guess learning nail art really takes a lot of practice and can be hard for individuals with no prior experience.

Not forgetting my invitation to Singapore's annual biggest fashion event which I attended last Saturday, Fashion Step Out 2014 (FOS2014)! Because I had my Gelly Tole Class that afternoon, I brought along a dress to change out and I'm so glad I decided to wear my mandarin red dress!

I met many fashionistas and designers during that night! Their models were strutting it and the fashion pieces are breathtaking! Due to this event, the street along Orchard is actually cordoned off and the traffic have to be re-directed, it was really an eye-opener watching the models walking up and down a usually busy road.

Fun aside, I'm still conducting nail art classes regularly and here's a peek of my Hi-5 Knit Seminar! The turnout was great and I'm glad to share my skill with them:

God has been good to me and it has been another pleasant week. I'm off for my break and i'll look forward to the next week, xo.

PRINA mini graduation party

The gals brought over cakes for a mini party at PinkRoom last week~ The feeling is one of heartwarming and a bit of reluctance, because we have bonded and grown close to each other over the months.

But more important than that, I am so proud of them that they have reached a new milestone! Seeing them progress to their current achievement reaffirms that starting a nail school is the right decision :)

Group photo with the gals, Master Educator Joe & Senior Educator Nicole.
Does the two frosted log cakes look tempting to you?

BFF! Every time I see these photos, I can't help but smile. It captures more than just the smiles on their face, but also the friendship our gals have with one another.

 Jiayou girls! All the best!

GUESS WHO? Realistic Face Painting.

I found a bunch of photos of hand-drawn nailart done by our "King of Nail-Gurus" Mr JOE CHUA~ It was done some time ago but we have never shared before...so here goes!!

GUESS WHO? LOL~

Yes~ it's ME!
This was done by PinkRoom's Master Educator Joe Chua some time ago~ I remembered he just sat there drawing away with a fine brush and an array of paints... silently on his own drawing and drawing (those who knows him, know what I meant~ LOL) And after a while, he just turned around and asked "Nice or not?"

I took a peek and my first reaction was: "WOW!! itz me!!"
Followed by my second reaction: "Ewww...itz me!!... on a nail tip!?!" Honestly, it was rather weird to see yourself, as a painting... needs some getting used to~ Hahahahaa~

On closer scrutiny of his "nail art", I was amazed by the fine strokes and realism of the person's facial expressions!! It is easy to "just draw a face", but it is damn ultra-difficult(in my humble opinion), to draw someone you know; coz it is not just a face, but a person you actually know, bundled together with his/her character.

It's hard to critic his art coz it's my own face, lol!

Frankly, I felt that Joe managed to catch a person's personality & characteristics in his paintings.. He also managed to create a 3-Dimensional image onto a 2-Dimensional surface..aka, that of a small nail tip!! All these from his many years of high-technical skills & in-depth knowledge of facial proportions and colors.
Cheerios to our Master Joe!! \(^.^)/

By the way, Joe ended up drawing not only me, but a couple of us... So keep a lid on your curiosity and I would try to upload all of them asap... ^.^

Teddy teddy Nailart~

Hehehe! My super kawaii act cute teddy bear nails~

It's been a long time since I actually did such a kawaii set of nails for myself, since it doesn't really goes well with the "typical principal" look~! I'm actually very fun loving!! >.<

The whole set of nailart is done on my natural nails using the Angelpro Gelly Polish.
#4 beige colour for the base,
#31 dark brown for the paw and face features,
#32 the lighter brown for the Teddy's face,
 and #23 for the hearts!

Tip: Replace the colours if you prefer a different effect or if you don't have the colours that I've used! Have fun exploring the different possibilities~ Add a ribbon on the Teddy's head or even a bow tie!!

Bling up my toes with Angel Pro~*

My super *bling bling* pedicure to welcome the Snake Year~

I finally had a little free time on hand few Sundays ago, and decided to do a pedicure with the new Angel Pro Gelly Polish colours... there were so many colours, I couldn't decide!

Since it's CNY round the corner, I went for bright festive colours~
super Bling Bling no less...

If you can't decide which colour is the prettiest, do all!
We have 10 nails for a reason!! ^^

Our PinkRoom nailists all over Singapore must be busy fulfilling customers' requests right now! Hang in there girls~

The weeks before CNY are the busiest period for all our PinkRoom nailists! I've seen many of them post on Facebook that they are fully booked till the eve of CNY. Some are even providing nail services till the wee hours at their home-based salons... these girls are highly sought after for their professional skills!

They have transformed from innocent-eyes-looking girls without any idea about nails to successful nailists & business owners... to be able to earn their own keeps, to support themselves and their families. To create pretty nails and smiles on their customer faces!
