THE WEEK AHEAD:

It has been a while since I last met up with Eriko. When we had time and were together, we would have so much discussion about various nail art, nail techniques and nail tools in each other's country! I do miss her but I guess I'll just make do with the memory of our interview and features for now.

Both of us are featured in Japan's popular Nail Up! Vol.58 issue and in that article (see below), it describes our journey in the nail industry in detail. Coming from a little red dot, I am, of course, very honoured to be working with Eriko and getting featured in a Japanese magazine (not just any mag, but Nail Up!, which is pretty amazing!).

My journey in Singapore's nail industry has been a long and tedious one, making mistakes along the way and learning some valuable lessons from past mistakes. Alas, my hard work has paid off in the most unimaginable way and I'm thankful for all those who had came into my life and contributed to The Pink Room International Nail Academy.

It was Easter Day last sunday and one of my student gave me this set of Easter Bunny ears and nose. It's super adorable and my staffs and I decided to put it up on our glass doors (HAHA)!!

On a much somber tone, I'm glad my students thought of me on Easter Day and got me such a cute deal. THANK YOU AL

#hugsandkisses #drownyouwithmylove

On a side note, I've been browsing through the web for all the latest nail art. I may be a principal, educator and a judge, but I'll still have to keep myself updated and on trend!

Anyway, I found this particular nail design which features an accent on just the ring finger and I'm in love with it. It is suitable for bridal nails, but if it were for daily wear, it's a soft and muted form of chic and hipster style.

I'll definitely be pimping my ring nail with this design this weekend! ;)

The week ahead is still long since it's only the mid-week, but I'm looking forward to my overseas trip with my students for their international nail examination! [I hope they've been practicing hard!] From the bottom of my heart, I wish them all the best and let's have fun together on that trip!

PinkRoom Jap Mag Feature + Melody Workshop + Nail Mag Subscriptions...

Every weekend, I like to look back and reflect on all that happened during the week. This Saturday, it won't be any different and here goes a long honest post before the weekend...

PINK ROOM FEATURE IN NAIL ネイルUP!

Firstly, my heart was so full with pride when Japan's popular NAIL ネイルUP! Nail Up Magazine featured us in their Vol. 57 (March issue)! Though I had already known of this coverage as their editorial team flew down to Pink Room's 10th Anniversary Pink Party Bash, it was truly exciting when I finally have the hard copy of the issue in my hands, reading and drinking in the words that talk about Pink Room & Japan TAT's collaboration... Most touching for me is that Pink Room is in our 10th year, and they covered our Pink Party Bash too!! ♡♡.

Here's a sneak peak of the English version which our design team translated. They were so excited and did our little own "English Nailup":

For those who are interested to see the original Japanese version Nailup, you can now grab a copy at Shoppink Room, located at International Plaza #06-18 (Tanjong Pagar MRT Exit C).

MELODY PRO NAIL ART CLASS@PinkRoom

This coming 15th, 16th & 23rd April, 12pm - 6pm, I'll be conducting our most popular Melody Pro Nail Art Class!!

I would be teaching many various designs for the kawaii Melody character. With these nail art techniques I taught,  you gals would be able to create many many many types of cute Melody nailart with other accessories too!!

Ooooh...  It's really exciting fun!! In fact, I'm always excited for every seminar, nail class or workshops, because there's so much happy smiling faces, makes learning fun!

( Here's a sneak peek of our students happy faces at our previous Melody nailart class !)

You can signup for their yearly subscriptions and have the magazines delivered to your doorsteps. This service is only available at the Shoppink Room.

This month's latest issue of Nail Venus is out!!, Get your copy now~ it is available for sale at Shoppink Room and Kinokuniya stores:

I myself have paid and signed up for the yearly subscriptions, I'm really glad for this delivery service, before I had to travel all the way to the shops before able to get a copy.

Most times they are out of stock, disappointing~ I've always have a love for Japan's cute magazines, so much info! Now I can finally have them at the convenience of my own home  ^^)V

THE ENDING OF MONTH OF MARCH

I barely had time to collect my thoughts and March is already coming to an end... I really do hope to get a break soon. I believe that with amply rest, I can refuel myself and bring Pink room to the next "pink" level.

Nevertheless, I love creating more new techniques nailart and sharing this passion with everyone from all over and I will never stop doing this.

Happy Saturday girls, xox!

NAIL ネイルUP! Vol.58

Gonna share about the behind the scene of the special feature of myself & 黒崎えり子 Eriko Kurosaki in the upcoming issue of the NAIL UP Magazine~ Nail Up is one of the best selling Japanese Nail Magazine worldwide!

It's hard to expect the number of man-hours put into each article. I really admire the passion the magazine team has for their job. Going the extra mile to take photos, and getting the interview done. All the planning going on while we get ready for the photoshoot.

Big thank you to the photographer for her patience as we kept changing our minds~ Checking if the photos are okay... the usual "look fat a not?", "aiyo, my hair so messy!".

One of the photos that I like alot! A photo in a photo~~ It's taken by one of the members from TAT Japan~ They visited us together with the magazine team.

It has been another fulfilling week and the recent Knit Hi-5 Seminar has been rather meaningful for me. It really warms my heart to see that there are girls willing to pick up such an intricate technique!

I still remember when I first learnt it myself, it was not easy! As I had classes and events to attend in the morning, I had to stay up during the night to constantly practice this Japanese knitted design. Although it’s difficult and back-breaking, I was so infatuated with this nail design! It is so cute~

When I finally mastered it, my first thought is to tell all Pink Room’s students about it so they don’t have to start learning from scratch like I did. Save time for them! The Knit Hi-5 seminar that happened last Wednesday was a fruitful one and we had such a long session that it ended around 9 plus at night! Hahas, too much loves and feels for this nail design.

Well, I’m in the midst of prepping for another Knit Hi-5 Seminar this coming Monday, do join me if you’re equally passionate about this nail design! Cheers and peace girls XOXO

NAIL ネイルUP! Part 2

I am glad everyone had enjoyed my previous post on the NAIL ネイルUP! feature. I'm sure many of you have seen the magazine by now.

The best part of this feature was that I managed to get Nail Up team to include our graduates' salons. Initially, the team wanted to visit any random shopping center and do their interviews. I was thinking, why not feature our PinkRoom graduates. After all, our graduates practice professional nail services which I cannot guarantee for other salons.

The Magazine team requested for different types of nail salons in Singapore. Thus I recommended a few... which the team chose two different type of salon - a chain salon & a salon in a shop-house. Shop houses are unique to the Japanese, as nail salons in Japan are usually in shopping centers.

It wasn't an easy task for the reporters & photographers to feature our girls~ as they had to travel to different salons to conduct the interview and photo shoot, while carrying their equipment. And because of the language barrier, we had to bring a translator along as well!

The girls were asked on the most popular nail art designs in their salon, and which are their favorite nail products. They also shared their experience on how they start their business.

Look what was spotted!!
My love messages to The Nail Artelier when I visited them for their salon's opening~~

They are featured on PART 5 of the magazine feature~~ This is a hard-to-get chance and I'm glad that our graduates managed to be featured this time!

I hope that through my power in the industry, I will be able to help our graduates to receive more coverage on local and international media! This has always been my aim and I am glad that it is coming true! I have more exciting plans coming up~ stay tuned on my blog for more updates and find out how to be part it!

NAIL ネイルUP!

I've been keeping a secret for a long long time....... and finally I can share it!

Singapore will be featured in one of the BIGGEST nail magazine in Japan, namely
NAIL ネイルUP! Magazine~

Yes, the magazine that you see in salons all the time! The ones that "nail people" refer to for nail art and to find out about latest news & product launches.

It was a very very rare chance to be featured in any nail magazine in Japan, let alone, NAIL ネイル UP!~ It was in the talks for quite some time... discussions after discussions on what was to be featured. It was also one of the reason why I had been traveling to Japan quite often recently.

Finally, the magazine is coming out soon~~ and I can share this great news with you girls! During the Pink Party Bash last November, the Japan magazine reporter team came down to Singapore to do an exclusive coverage so as to feature our event and the TAT Singapore grand opening on the coming issue of Nail Up magazine.

The team also came to visit our school campus & The Shoppink Room TAT SG to check out the place, and they were impressed! #happy~

I love this picture the most. It was taken during an interview with Nail TAT Japan's CEO, Mr Takano-san that happened right after the Pink Party Bash (yes, we were still in St.James Powerstation) . Look at how much fun and engagement we had with each other! This goes to prove that language is never a barrier~ Even though we had to converse via a translator, we managed to make friendship and build trust.

Mr Takano-san & I were interviewed about our collaboration thoughts. It is definitely my privilege to be interviewed together with him. He is such an incredible warm person. Everyone in TAT Japan look up to him as he takes care of everyone just like his family member.

The feature that will be out in this month's issue of ネイル UP! (volume #57) would be five pages long. I've seen the draft, and I'm so excited to show your girls the final product!! It will be covering TAT Singapore's Grand Opening, The Pink Room International Nail Academy, Pink Party Bash, popular nail salons in Singapore, local delicacy (yesss... chicken rice was one of them), place of interests and more!

I sure all the nailists in Singapore & neighboring countries are thankful for Shippink Room's collaboration with TAT Japan as we can finally have Japanese brands of nail product easily available in Singapore. Nail technicians/students no longer have to grumble and complain to me about having to pay high price to import the products from Japan resellers, who usually mark up the price & shipping & handling fees.

More behind the scene photos taking during the interview....

I am so delighted to be THE ONE to share this awesome news to all the nailists in our Lion City ='( I know how it feels cause I'm a nailist myself... and been towing in this industry for 10 years~~ it's like a dream come true! #很感动 ~T.T)/
Our tiny red dot, SINGAPORE シンガポール is finally mentioned on the best selling NAIL MAGAZINE in JAPAN!!

Saying that, I would really like to thank TAT NAil Shop JAPAN & the Nail Up Magazine Team for setting aside time to come down to our Pink Party Bash, covering the event and giving us so much support & love!

I truly appreciate their efforts for making all the arrangements & efforts to come to Shoppink Room/TAT SG to take photos of the products, covering the interview of TAT CEO Mr Takano-san & me, going to PinkRoom students' salons and covering SG food and places of interest...... and not forgetting to have a little fun with the team.

KUDOS to both TAT NAil Shop JAPAN & the Nail Up Magazine Team to make this big collaboration feature happen! ♡♡♡

Here's a preview of the interview~~
