Mid-Week Blog (Break Time!)

Had a short break so I'm going to do a proper blog post now.

This week is the so-called "workshops" week, conducting workshops after workshops and guiding our students to master a themed nail art. On Monday, I had the Gellish Manicure Class, teaching the techniques and precautions of using gel polish and on Tuesday and Wednesday, I was totally immersed in teaching the Melody Pro Nail Art Class~

Hehes, it was an afternoon of 'kawai'.

Of course, being featured in Japan's Nail Up! latest issue (Vol.58) has the highlight of the week for me too! My good friend from Japan, Ms. Eriko, and I did an interview together and I even brought her around Singapore! It was a rare "day-out" for me where I finally managed to truly enjoy Singapore. I thank God that the weather then was all sunshine and breezy!

Eriko has always been very passionate about nail art just like me and we would always text each other about nail trends in Japan or Singapore, exchanging ideas and tips. It is also why when I wanted an international judge to be present at our Pink Room Cup, Eriko was my first choice!

Read more about our interview below or you can grab a copy of the magazine at Shoppink Room, located at International Plaza #06-18.

Finally, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Open House next Monday! The previous one was really great and I got to meet ladies who are genuinely interested in nail art. There was even a lady from Indonesia, who committed to flying over to Singapore for half a year just to study with us!

I am extremely touched and I vow that Pink Room do its best to train our students, xoxo.

Well, it's only mid-week so I'm going to 'gungho' a bit more and push through till Saturday (Pink Room closes only on Sun)! Wishing strength and good luck to all those working hard on a Wednesday too!

LAST WEEK OF MARCH ALREADY??

Omgoodness, it’s the last week of March! I’ve barely finish planning nail art workshops for the month of April…

Well, to update you girls, this coming April, Pink Room will be having a Melody-ProNail Art Class and we will also be having the Knit Hi-5 Seminar again.

Do stay tune to Pink Room’s FB Page for more upcoming workshops: https://www.facebook.com/PinkRoomNails.PRINA

Well, other than fancy nail art workshops, do you girls know about the few basic foods that can give you strong, healthy nails? Scroll down to find out!

It has been another fulfilling week and the recent Knit Hi-5 Seminar has been rather meaningful for me. It really warms my heart to see that there are girls willing to pick up such an intricate technique!

I still remember when I first learnt it myself, it was not easy! As I had classes and events to attend in the morning, I had to stay up during the night to constantly practice this Japanese knitted design. Although it’s difficult and back-breaking, I was so infatuated with this nail design! It is so cute~

When I finally mastered it, my first thought is to tell all Pink Room’s students about it so they don’t have to start learning from scratch like I did. Save time for them! The Knit Hi-5 seminar that happened last Wednesday was a fruitful one and we had such a long session that it ended around 9 plus at night! Hahas, too much loves and feels for this nail design.

Well, I’m in the midst of prepping for another Knit Hi-5 Seminar this coming Monday, do join me if you’re equally passionate about this nail design! Cheers and peace girls XOXO

Happy Mid-Week Girls!! xoxo

Happy Mid-Week Girls! This week is flying pretty fast for Pink Room! (#fastandfurious) On a side note, this week is almost over and Friday is just two days away…

OMG HAVE YOU GIRLS PLANNED WHAT TO PAINT ON YOUR NAILS YET??

You can have the perfect sultry dress, the right amount of make-up, the gorgeous heels and a cute little handbag, but how would you feel if you gently lay your hands on the table and your nails are disappointingly plain?

Well, to help you handle this distressing matter, I found the right article that’ll help you choose and understand the right nail shade for you! You may be a classic and demure girl or an androgynous and cool chick, this article has all the right shade explained and sorted out for you to browse and I absolutely loved it:

(I am totally going for Hot Neon colours!!)

Do take care of your claws and paws girls~

IT'S MOONONOMOMONDAY!!!

It's Monday again! Oh my, last week flew by so fast I barely had time to blog everything!

How do I even begin to describe Mondays?? They are the start and the end, they are hateful and refreshing, gosh, don't you all just have mixed feelings about Mondays?!

But ultimately, I think no one should look bad when you already feel horrible. Everyone should dress up REAL FANCY today! Pick up that bold glittery red heels you've always loved and that professional-looking dress that you know will give you all the attention you wanted! A little can go a long way~ But have you decorated your nails??

Check out Pink Room's FB page for great nail art ideas! (https://www.facebook.com/PinkRoomNails.PRINA?ref=hl)

Secondly, other than dressing up, it is essential for everyone to stay on top of their tasks and planned schedules. As a very busy woman myself, I'm always on the look out for tips to further improve and better myself. Recently, I came across this article on Oprah's website (http://www.oprah.com/home/How-to-Stay-Organized-Tips-from-Organized-People) and their tips to stay organized:

1. Walk Away from Bargains

Just because you can buy a cashmere sweater for $20 or three bottles of ketchup for the price of one doesn't mean you should. "Ask, 'Do I have something similar?' and 'Where am I going to store it?' before making a purchase," advises New York City professional organizer Julie Morgenstern

2. Make Peace with Imperfection

Efficient people give "A-level effort" to the most important projects (say, work assignments or a kitchen redesign), and for the rest they do just enough to get the job done, says Renae Reinardy, PsyD, a psychologist who specializes in hoarding disorders. Maybe you give yourself permission to bring store-bought cookies to a school bake sale or donate a bag of stuff—unsorted!—to Goodwill. "Trying to do every task perfectly is the easiest way to get bogged down," says Reinardy.

3. Never Label Anything "Miscellaneous"

You put a bunch of things into a file or box and write this catchall across the front. "But within a week you've forgotten what's in there," says Morgenstern. Instead, sort items into specific groups—"electric bills," "lightbulbs," and so on.

4. Schedule Regular Decluttering Sessions

Rather than wait until an industrious mood strikes (we all know where that leads), have a decluttering routine in place—whether it's spending 15 minutes sorting mail after work or tackling a new project every Sunday afternoon.

5. Stick with What Works

"I have clients who will try every line of makeup, every cell phone—it's exhausting," says Dorothy Breininger, president of the Delphi Center for Organization. Don't waste time (and money) obsessively seeking out the best thing.

Such great tips! Cheers to a great and efficient week ahead! XOXO

Vanity Trove's Get, Snap, Blingo! Project Launch Party With Pink Room!!

Last week has been pretty hectic as Pink Room entered our very first collaboration with Vanity Trove (VT) at VT’s Get, Snap, Blingo! party at Zouk last Wednesday (5 March 2014). After meticulous planning with my team, it was decided that we’ll have two manicure booths and a free and easy D.I.Y nail booth for VT’s guests. I was so touched when my students have graciously agreed to offer their services and help us out at the booths!

The party would not have been possible if not for some very special individuals. I would like to thank the girls from Juup Nails & Polished Nail Boutique for helping out silently in huge ways and for assisting with charming personalities.

Also, not to be missed, our product sponsor, 1Q32 Instant Gellish, the mastermind behind all your beautiful gel nails, has been very generous too. This milestone for Pink Room would not be possible without all of them and I sincerely thank them for their contributions.

As the principal of Pink Room, I was even invited for a live demonstration on stage as well! Super exciting! So here is a peek of what you guys have missed last Wednesday:

Get, Snap, Blingo! Paty with Vanity Trove at Zouk
It took us close to three hours to set up all three booths! But it’s alright because the turn-out looks superb, all the pink decors really attracted lots of girls. The girls had a fun time setting up~ Deciding what to go where, and decors and all.

It was a pleasant surprise when one of the emcee, Jill The Mad Hatter, came to one of our booth and requested for a full manicure! We were, of course, very willing to oblige. She was very funky and specifically chose two shades of bright neon orange and green! Très Chic!

The other emcee of the night didn’t want to lose out as well. She is so cute, she kept knocking into things with her ginormous wings, but I guess so long as her nails remain unscathed, all is well! But it’s really okay~~ since 1Q32 Instant Gellish dries instantly after curing. She will not have to worry about damaging her nails!

The crowd was lovely and our girls worked non-stop! I’m really glad for their help and will keep these kind girls close to my heart. XOXO

I’m so happy that our students can come together to take part in such events with the school. We have built strong bonds with each students throughout their learning journey in PinkRoom~ their journey does not end after graduations. I still meet up with many of them for makan. And of course, me and the school will keep our students in mind when we have events. It will help them to gain exposure and promote their salons.

happy customer, manicure for nails

Those who came to our booths were not disappointed and some even wanted to buy the polishes from us! You can get them at 1Q32 website (www.1Q32.com) gals!!~

Stage time was fun! I shared tips to D.I.Y your nails with 1Q32 Instant Gellish. You girls can now D.I.Y your nails at home… Of course, if you want to do more complicated arts…. You can visit our graduates’ salons!! LOL #promotingagain ~

I’ve also managed to talk to some girls who visited our booth… to share about our experience as a school. Few bloggers approached me to say that they have been following my blog!! They were asking me about my judging experience in Russia!! It was cool catching up with all these beauty lovers and like-minded people.

Lastly, it is essential for a group photo to round up this event! These wonderful girls made this event possible and are great contributors to the collaboration between Vanity Trove and Pink Room. I sincerely thank them!!

All-in-all, we had a great time and the party was a huge success for the Pink Room (and for me). As we put this first milestone with VT behind us, I’ll be looking forward eagerly for future collaborations with VT that will put both brands at greater heights.

GUESS WHO? Realistic Face Painting.

I found a bunch of photos of hand-drawn nailart done by our "King of Nail-Gurus" Mr JOE CHUA~ It was done some time ago but we have never shared before...so here goes!!

GUESS WHO? LOL~

Yes~ it's ME!
This was done by PinkRoom's Master Educator Joe Chua some time ago~ I remembered he just sat there drawing away with a fine brush and an array of paints... silently on his own drawing and drawing (those who knows him, know what I meant~ LOL) And after a while, he just turned around and asked "Nice or not?"

I took a peek and my first reaction was: "WOW!! itz me!!"
Followed by my second reaction: "Ewww...itz me!!... on a nail tip!?!" Honestly, it was rather weird to see yourself, as a painting... needs some getting used to~ Hahahahaa~

On closer scrutiny of his "nail art", I was amazed by the fine strokes and realism of the person's facial expressions!! It is easy to "just draw a face", but it is damn ultra-difficult(in my humble opinion), to draw someone you know; coz it is not just a face, but a person you actually know, bundled together with his/her character.

It's hard to critic his art coz it's my own face, lol!

Frankly, I felt that Joe managed to catch a person's personality & characteristics in his paintings.. He also managed to create a 3-Dimensional image onto a 2-Dimensional surface..aka, that of a small nail tip!! All these from his many years of high-technical skills & in-depth knowledge of facial proportions and colors.
Cheerios to our Master Joe!! \(^.^)/

By the way, Joe ended up drawing not only me, but a couple of us... So keep a lid on your curiosity and I would try to upload all of them asap... ^.^

Nailympics Asia~

Stoning out at hotel lobby after a super crazy tiring day at the Nailympics Asia~
